Brent was raised in Davenport, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, cum laude, and a Minor in Political Science. Brent also played trumpet in the University’s premier Jazz ensemble, the Johnson County Landmark while studying at Iowa, and received a scholarship for the study of Trumpet Performance. Brent continued his education at Indiana University, where he received his J.D. in 2015. Brent was also a Managing Editor of the Indiana University Law Journal, the law school’s flagship journal. During law school Brent also served as the Law Clerk for Kelley & Belcher, a civil litigation firm, as well as serving as a Research Assistant to Professor Leandra Lederman, Director of the Tax Program.


Brent was licensed to practice in Iowa in 2015, and practiced at a prestigious firm in Dubuque, Iowa for two years, where he mainly focused on civil litigation, insurance defense, and representing financial institutions in various legal matters. Brent was licensed to practice in Minnesota in 2017. Brent moved to Rochester in 2017 to join the firm. Brent currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Rochester Symphony. Brent was also recognized as a 2017 North Star Lawyer by the Minnesota State Bar Association, for providing pro bono legal services to low-income individuals.
