The spring like weather that the state of Minnesota is currently experiencing has awoken many residents out of what seems like a long winter. Throughout the state people are shedding winter clothing and pulling out things that they have not been able to use since before the snow fell. For those who enjoy riding motorcycles, this means getting their bikes out of storage. In conjunction with the early jump motorcyclists are getting on the motorcycle riding season, they should take the time to think about motorcycle safety before taking off on the inaugural spin.

Drivers of automobiles should be aware that the much smaller vehicles will be out and about as well. Because failure-to-yield accidents are at the top of the list when it comes to the crashes that occur in the state, drivers of cars and trucks need to make sure they take the time necessary to look twice before pulling into an intersection. Taking that extra time could save a motorcyclist’s life. In 2014, a total of 44 motorcyclists lost their lives while riding on Minnesota roads.

Drivers have another reason for taking care while driving. If their negligence leads to an injury inducing accident occurring, it is possible that they could themselves on the receiving end of a lawsuit. Injured motorcyclists, or in the alternative family members of those who have died, could file a claim to seek financial compensation for the injuries or loss of life. Anything recovered in such a case could make life easier going forward
